Afra was born in Karagwe District, Kagera Region, on 8th May 2015.

Three months after her birth, she began to suffer from breathing difficulties, and her health started to deteriorate. She was brought to Karagwe District Hospital and diagnosed with pneumonia. Despite being given medications, she showed no signs of recovery.

In June 2019, she was diagnosed with cardiac defects. Afra received her treatment in July 2021 at Benjamin Mkapa Hospital in Dodoma, Tanzania, during our first surgical mission.
