Ivannah is a young girl from Dodoma who was born with a complex heart problem. She needed two heart surgeries to save her life. Her first surgery happened when she was 1 year and 8 months old, and the second surgery took place when she was 4 years and 3 months old. These surgeries made her stronger and healthier.
Today, Ivannah is a happy 7-year-old, going to Standard One and enjoying school. At The One New Heart Tanzania, we work hard to help children like Ivannah get the medical care they need to live happy, healthy lives and reach their dreams.
Ivannah’s journey was not easy. When her father found out about her heart problem, he left her mother, thinking the illness came from her side of the family. Since then, her mother has raised Ivannah alone. She faced many challenges but stayed strong, with the help of kind family members and friends.
Ivannah’s first surgery was at the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute in Dar es Salaam. Later, doctors said she needed another surgery, which would take place in India. In June 2020, her mother learned about The One New Heart Tanzania through social media. We stepped in and helped make sure Ivannah could get her second surgery free of cost in India, which was a success.
Now, Ivannah is living a healthier life and enjoying her childhood. Her story shows how love, kindness, and hope can give children a second chance. We are proud to have helped Ivannah on her journey and continue to work to help more children like her live better lives.
