Christian was born on October 29, 2015, in Ndolage village, Tanzania, to a teenage mother named Mutesi. She was 15 years old and still in high school at the time. Mutesi left her son with her 63-year-old mother, Victoria, who was working as a matron in the village dispensary.

At the age of two, Christian was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), a combination of heart defects, due to frequent pneumonia and a blueish discoloration of his nails. With Victoria’s monthly salary of about USD 65, she was unable to afford his treatment.

The One New Heart Tanzania introduced Victoria to HeartGift, which sponsored his heart surgery at the Jakaya Kikwete Heart Institute (JKCI) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, in October 2020.

Unfortunately, Victoria did not live to celebrate Christian’s treatment. She passed away two months earlier due to a heart attack.
